Portsmouth Man Sentenced To 10 Years In Prison For 2 Robberies

A Portsmouth man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for robbing two Portsmouth businesses.

Marlin Yates II, also known as Randall Yates, 26, of Portsmouth, was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty to two counts of aggravated robbery during a hearing in Scioto County Circuit Court.

Yates admitted to robbing the Sherwin-Williams Paint Store January 11, and the 1st Stop Market in Sciotoville on January 12.

Prosecutors say in the paint store robbery, Yates had his hand in his pocket and gestured like he had a gun. In the convenience store robbery, the clerk said it appeared Yates has a 9 mm pistol in his waistband,

Yates was arrested in Greenup County, Ky. and returned to Scioto County to face the robbery charges.
