Rio Softball Looks To Get Back On Track
< < Back to rio-softball-looks-get-back-trackAfter going 1-3 over the weekend, the Rio Grande Redstorm (20-13) look to bounce back with a sweep of the lowly Cumberlands Patriots (13-20).
In their first meeting, the teams each walked away with a win. Rio took the victory in game one 2-1, but would then give up nine runs in a 9-3 loss in game two.
In the doubleheader, Rio relied on their top hitter, Kim Rollins, to keep them afloat at the plate in game two. Rollins was able to get three hits in four at bats. For the Patriots, Bethany Davis racked up five hits in six at bats between the two games.
Those two players are still the top players for each of their teams at the plate. Rollins and Davis are two of the top batters in the Mid-South Conference. Davis boasts a batting average of .364 while Rollins is batting .304.
On the mound, Jenna Jones will take her 2.75 ERA and face off against Nichol Chesley and her 2.45 ERA for game one.
The first game is set for 2 pm.
