Johnson and Chino earned their second academic All-MAC honors. Both wrestlers were also honored on the 2013 team.
Ohio’s heavyweight is coming off a successful 2013-14 season in which he claimed his second All-American title with a seventh place finish at the 2014 NCAA Championships. Johnson won 41 matches en route to setting the career wins record at Ohio with 143. He carries a 3.36 GPA and is studying Mid-Moderate Education, and Psychology.
Chino competed at the NCAA tournament in 2014 for the second time in as many years. He is studying Marketing and has a 3.34 GPA. He will be a redshirt junior next season and one of Ohio’s most experienced wrestlers, along with Walters.
Like Chino, Walters competed in his second straight NCAA tournament. After missing significant time in the regular season due to injuries, Walters claimed the MAC title at 174, but was unable to defend his All-American title. He is currently studying Physical Education and Pre Sports Management, and posts a 3.27 GPA.
Chino and Walters return next year to help lead a Bobcat team that sent six wrestlers to nationals in 2014 – the most in program history.
