Corning Man Hospitalized Following Route 13 Wreck
< < Back to corning-man-hospitalized-following-route-13-wreckA Corning man suffered incapacitating injuries following a two-vehicle crash on Route 13 Saturday night.
According to the State Highway Patrol, Robert L. Hooper, 23, of Corning, was southbound on Route 13 when he drove his 1995 Ford Ranger off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail. The truck then slid across the roadway and struck another guardrail. The cab of the vehicle became detached from the vehicle and came to rest on its top in the roadway.
The cab was then struck by a northbound-traveling 2000 Ford Escape driven by Edward Cooper, 21, of Athens.
The crash happened just after 11 p.m. on Saturday night. Route 13 was closed for approximately two hours following the wreck.
Hooper was flown by Medflight to Ohio State University Medical Center with incapacitating injuries, according to Highway Patrol. On Sunday afternoon, a spokeswoman at OSU said that Hooper was not listed as a patient.
Cooper and his passenger, Paige McDonald, 19, of Nelsonville, were not injured in the crash. However, McDonald was transported by Athens County EMS to OhioHealth O'Bleness Memorial Hospital as a precaution because she is pregnant.
Charges are pending against Hooper, according to Highway Patrol.
