Poling Gets First Career MAC Weekly
< < Back toFollowing Ohio's loss to the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday, Bobcat redshirt freshman linebacker, Quentin Poling, has been named the Mid-American Conference East Division Defensive Player of the Week.
In the 20-3 defeat, Poling disrupted the Wildcat offense with a career-high 10 tackles, including two sacks and two and a half tackles for loss.
The Bobcat defense saw a lot of action in week two, playing 88 snaps over 38 minutes of gameplay.
Ohio fell behind early after giving up two touchdowns in the first quarter, but held its SEC opponent to six points on 215 yards of total offense during the final three periods of play.
Poling and the 'Cats will take the field Saturday, Sept. 13 for their third consecutive road game in a non-conference matchup with rival Marshall.
The Ohio defense may have its hands full in Huntington, where quarterback Rakeem Cato has led the Marshall offense to 45 points per game the Herd's first two victories.
