Ohio Groups Seek To Enforce Early Voting Decision
< < Back to ohio-groups-seek-enforce-early-voting-decisionGroups in Ohio are asking a federal judge to force the state's election chief to comply with his ruling that expands early voting this fall.
The Ohio chapter of the NAACP and others said in a court filing late Wednesday that Secretary of State Jon Husted has yet to update his website with an early voting schedule that reflects the court order. The plaintiffs say county websites also misinform voters.
Last week, U.S. District Judge Peter Economus temporarily blocked an Ohio law trimming early voting and ordered Husted to set additional times that include evening hours. Under the order, early voting would begin September 30th, instead of October 7th.
The state is appealing the September 4th decision.
Economus has ordered the state to respond to the motion by Friday.
