Ohio Following Up On Tax Incentive Contracts
< < Back toOhio officials say they're cracking down on companies that received tax incentives but have failed to create promised jobs.
The Ohio Tax Credit Authority canceled or revised tax incentive contracts with 105 companies Monday that haven't followed through on creating jobs in the state. The Columbus Dispatch reports the contract cancelations and revisions are part of a state effort to more closely monitor companies ' compliance and step up enforcement of business incentives.
For many companies not meeting expectations, the tax-credit panel is reducing incentives it offered previously.
Ohio Development Services Agency Director and Tax Credit Authority Chairman David Goodman tells the Columbus Dispatch there previously hasn't been enough company performance verification.
Goodman says he expects the tax authority to take action against more companies at its October meeting.
