A Mason woman was arrested Friday from a home in Nelsonville on drug-related charges stemming out of Franklin County. Her arrest may also lead to additional drug-related charges in Athens County as bulk amounts of LSD were allegedly discovered during the investigation.

Desiree C. Stinchomb, 21, is being held in the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail under a $2,500 bond while she awaits extradition to Franklin County. She was arrested Friday after a joint investigation between the Athens Major Crime Unit and the Nelsonville Police Department.

According to a news release from the Athens MCU, a search warrant was executed at 594 W. Washington St. and two deputies with the Athens County Sheriff's Office located Stinchomb at the residence. She was arrested on the outstanding warrant.

"While at the residence, deputies observed what they believed to be evidence of illegal drug possession and trafficking," the release states.

A search allegedly revealed a bulk amount of LSD, which could rise to the level of a third-degree felony, as well as marijuana, a handgun and "implements commonly used in the trafficking of illegal drugs" such as scales and baggies. Athens County Interim Sheriff Rodney Smith said the amount of marijuana found would be a misdemeanor trafficking offense.

Stinchomb has not currently been charged in Athens County in relation to the drugs allegedly found at the home. Smith said he anticipates charges being presented to a future grand jury.

Smith noted that a bulk amount of LSD is an unusual find in Athens County and commended the work of the law enforcement officers involved with the case.
