Explosion Levels Central Ohio Home
< < Back to explosion-levels-central-ohio-homeInvestigators say a gas line explosion destroyed a central Ohio home, injuring two residents and killing the family's dog.
It happened Sunday morning in Newark, east of Columbus.
The (Newark) Advocate reports a husband and wife got out of the home safely. They were taken to a local hospital and expected to be OK, but their dog did not survive. Their names haven't been released.
Fire officials are trying to determine how and why it happened. Firefighters couldn't extinguish the fire until after the gas was shut off to the house.
The home was leveled. Debris from the blast littered several yards, and a neighboring home was damaged from the blaze.
