Ohio House Moves To Ban Powdered Alcohol
< < Back to ohio-house-moves-to-ban-powdered-alcoholThe Ohio House has a passed a bill that would ban the sale of powdered crystalline alcohol.
Representatives passing the measure on Thursday cited safety concerns and problems with underage people easily accessing the powdered alcohol, known as Palcohol.
It's easily concealed and sold online, and can be added to any beverage to make it an alcoholic drink. Promoters say it "turns water into rum."
Rep. Jim Buchy, a Greenville Republican who co-sponsored the bill, says that with the state's already problematic drug issues, it's important to work for policy changes to stem substance abuse.
The bill now goes to the Senate.
