If a trip to the OHSAA Division III State Championship wasn’t enough for the 14-0 Athens Bulldogs, they have something new to celebrate after quarterback Joe Burrow was named Ohio’s Mr. Football by the Associated Press.

The 6-foot-4 quarterback amassed 63 touchdowns and 4,581 total yards in the 2014 season. 3,991 yards and 57 came through the air.

Last season Burrow’s name hit the national spotlight when he won the Gatorade Player of the Year award in Ohio after his junior campaign.

Heading into the championship game against Toledo Central Catholic (12-2), Burrow is close to reaching 11,000 yards in his high school career and has already found the end zone 180 times.

The championship matchup kicks off at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday from Ohio Stadium in Columbus.
