Woman In Critical Condition After Stabbing
< < Back to woman-in-critical-condition-after-stabbingA Glouster woman is in critical condition and in a Columbus hospital’s intensive care unit after she was allegedly stabbed multiple times inside her home.
Her ex-husband was taken into custody in connection with the alleged stabbing and appeared in court on Thursday on the charges, according to Glouster mayor Miles Wolf.
Frederick J. “Fritz” Craig, 52, also of Glouster, is being held on charges of felonious assault and tampering with evidence. He was arrested after police responded to a domestic dispute call on Oakdale Road. A neighbor called police after hearing screaming from another residence, Wolf said.
When an officer went to the residence, a 46-year-old woman was found lying on the floor with “multiple stab wounds,” Wolf said. The officer immediately called for an ambulance and backup law enforcement.
“(The victim) was transported to Trimble High School, where she was flown by…MedFlight to Grant Medical Center,” Wolf told WOUB in a phone interview.
The knife that is alleged to have been used in the stabbing was not found in the house, according to Wolf, and police did not find Craig in the home either.
“He was found in the vicinity,” Wolf said.
Craig made statements to police, but due to the ongoing investigation into the incident, Wolf did not release further details. No other individuals are being investigated in connection with the alleged crime.
The Glouster Police Department was assisted by the Athens County Sheriff’s Office.
Craig, who is being held at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail, had an initial appearance at the Athens County Municipal Court on Thursday morning. A $125,000 bond was set in the case.
