After its offense scored nine runs in the first two games of a split with the Central Michigan Chippewas, the Ohio Bobcats (12-8, 1-2) were held scoreless in a 4-0 loss on Sunday.

The ‘Cats bats were silenced by Chippewas’ starter Jason Gamble. The junior righthander pitched a complete game and allowed six hits. He recorded just one strikeout, but also walked just one Bobcat.

The Chips’ struck first in the fourth inning on an Ohio error. A throwing error by Bobcat third baseman Ty Black allowed Central Michigan’s first run to score.

The home team grabbed its second run in the fifth on an RBI double down the left field line from catcher Tyler Huntley.

The Chippewas’ backstop added another RBI double to left in the seventh, and a single from Logan Regnier scored Huntley.

Central Michigan scored its four runs on seven hits and with the help of Ohio’s error. The Green and White recorded six hits and the Chippewas had an error of their own, but the ‘Cats couldn’t capitalize on opportunities.

First baseman Jake Madsen recorded half of Ohio’s hits in his four at bats.

Bobcat starter Tom Colletti allowed just two earned runs on five hits in a solid six innings, but he got no help from his offense.

After dropping their first conference series, the Bobcats have a non-conference matchup with the Xavier Musketeers on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
