WOUB Public Media’s website, woub.org, will get a refresh this week.
The new website will feature better visual images and feature a responsive design that better formats to mobile devices, including tablets and phones.
The website will creatively mix aspects of published media in categories such as news, sports, perspectives, culture and support. It will also feature a ‘WOUB Now’ section that will feature some video content, schedules for TV and radio and other information about things going on at WOUB Public Media.
Mark Brewer, WOUB’s Chief Operating Officer, believes the community will embrace the changes made to the new site.
“It’s our goal to provide quality information to the public, but to reach them in the formats that they are using,” Brewer said.
He says trends are on the upswing of people reaching website content by mobile devices and they wanted to make sure to serve all audiences, including people who continue to use desktops.
“We wanted a site that was visually appealing and have expanded the use of larger images, bigger video windows and better audio opportunities,” he said. “People will initially see a large change in the format of the website.”
The new website will also help feature content that is similar in nature, such as special pages for events and other happenings such as the Nelsonville Music Festival, that happens May 29 – 31.
WOUB’s Director and General Manager Tom Hodson says updating technology is important in today’s digital world.
“It [new website] will give us a new cutting-edge look and keep us abreast of the latest developments in digital technology,” said Hodson.
