New Indictment Adds Charges To Alleged Trafficking Ring

A new indictment returned by an Athens County grand jury adds additional charges against several of the individuals indicted last month in connection with a heroin and cocaine trafficking ring in the area.
Twelve individuals are charged in the new indictment, including John Rutter, 55, of Glouster, who was not charged in the initial indictment. Rutter is charged with engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity and was arrested on Friday.
“We are conducting an extensive investigation with the goal of crippling the infrastructure that distributes large amounts of heroin to Athens County,” said Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn of the new charges in the superseding indictment.
