The Purdue Boilermakers (1-0-0) took care of business Friday night when they shutout the Ohio Bobcats (0-1-0) 3-0.

The Bobcats could not seem to find their groove offensively throughout the entire match. It was not long into the matchup before the Boilermakers found the net. At the fifth minute of the contest Vanessa Korolas delivered a left to right cross to Maddy Williams for a one-touch goal into the net.

Ohio stuck around in the contest for the first half by not allowing another goal into halftime. However, the second half sealed the deal for the Boilermakers.

Three minutes into the second half into the 48th minute Maddy Williams struck again after a breakaway from an Ohio defender, Williams found the net once more for her fourth career multi-goal game with the Boilermakers.

In 89th minute Andrea Petrina added to the bleeding for the Bobcats when she added Purdue’s third and final goal of the night firing the ball into the net after a deflection off the hands of Ohio goalkeeper Vanessa Cordoba.

The only bright spots offensively for the Bobcats were the two lone shots-on-goal at the feet of Carly Manso and Macey Juguilon in the first half. Ohio had only nine shots on the evening. Ohio had no shots-on-goal in the second half. Ohio goalkeeper Vanessa Cordoba had eight saves of the eleven shots-on-goal from the Boilermakers.

Maddy Williams led the way for the Boilermakers with two goals on the evening. Hannah Leinert led the Boilermakers in assists with her two assists in the contest.

The Bobcats will look to bounce back Friday Aug. 28th when they head to the Motor City for a matchup with the Detroit Titans (0-1-0) at 3pm.
