Group Wants Kasich To End Funds To Planned Parenthood< < Back to
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Anti-abortion groups in Ohio are calling on Gov. John Kasich to block Medicaid payments to Planned Parenthood, though federal health officials have warned other states that such a move could violate the law.
Ohio Right to Life and a coalition of anti-abortion groups have written separately to the Republican governor and presidential contender about stopping government money to Planned Parenthood.
Scrutiny of the organization follows the release of secretly recorded videos by anti-abortion activists showing Planned Parenthood officials describing how they provide fetal tissue from abortions for medical research. Planned Parenthood has said the videos are heavily edited.
Such tissue donations are illegal in Ohio, and a state leader with the organization says it has no such program here.
A Kasich spokesman says the administration is reviewing its options.
