COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – A bill that seeks to divert more than $1 million in government funding away from Planned Parenthood was slated for votes in the Ohio House, as opponents planned to rally against the potential changes at the Statehouse.

The proposal targets grants Planned Parenthood receives through the state’s health department. The public dollars support initiatives that include HIV testing, breast and cervical cancer screenings and prevention of violence against women.

A House committee was slated to vote on the proposal Tuesday morning, followed by a full House vote later.

The legislation follows the release of secretly recorded videos by anti-abortion activists showing Planned Parenthood employees describing how they provide fetal tissue from abortions for medical research. Planned Parenthood says the videos are deceptively edited.

The Senate has passed a similar bill.
