COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – A new website aims to inform Ohioans about judicial candidates as part of an effort to boost voter participation in the races.

JudicialVotesCount.org was launched earlier this month. It outlines information about judges’ duties, profiles of 2015 candidates for municipal court judge, and descriptions about the different courts.

The website is part of Ohio Supreme Court Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor’s plan to reform judicial elections. Other elements include moving all judicial races to odd-numbered years and to the top of the ballot and increasing qualifications to serve as judge.

The site is housed at the University of Akron’s Ray C. Bliss Institute for Applied Politics. Partners on the project include the Ohio State Bar Association, League of Women Voters of Ohio, Ohio Newspaper Association and Ohio Association of Broadcasters.
