It took a while for some goals, but when they did, they came in bunches. After being held scoreless for the first 73 minutes of the game, the Toledo Rockets broke out and scored three goals in eight minutes to secure the 3-0 win over the ‘Cats.

The Rockets maintained control for the entirety of the game as the Bobcats could not get anything going offensively and were constantly pressured defensively. The Rockets outpaced the Bobcats 23-3 on shots and 15-0 in shots on goal.

The first goal of the game came after Toledo forward Sophie Pohl corralled a loose ball and put up a shot that just made it in on the near post side. Just four minutes later, the Rockets found the goal again. This time it was Brooke Maletic who found the mesh, stretching the Rockets lead to 2-0. With just 20 minutes remaining. Toledo didn’t stop there as Isa Echeverri put in their final goal  in the 82nd minute.

Even with giving up three goals, Ohio goalie Taylor Smith was still the star of the night. With the Ohio defense constantly being beat, it was often up to Smith to make saves when neede.  She did compile a season-high 12 saves.

The Bobcats will look to redeem themselves on Sunday when they face Central Michigan at home. Kick off is set for 1 pm.

Toledo, who improved to 3-6 in MAC play, will look to keep their momentum rolling against the Kent State flashes.
