The Ohio swimming and diving team began its season against Ohio State on Friday, but lost 211-85.

Freshman Corrin Van Lanen brought home the only first-place finish for the Bobcats in her 50-yard freestyle race, finishing with a time of 23.56. After a quick break, Van Lanen finished strong in her 100-yard freestyle, placing third with a time of 51.68.

Van Lanen also led the 200-yard freestyle A relay along with sophomore Liz Murphy, junior Josie Barker, and senior Haley Clark. The girls fell just short to the Buckeyes and placed second with a time of 1:37.29. Senior Haleigh Bartlett placed third in both the 3-meter (282.23) and 1-meter diving events (285.00). These scores were enough to qualify her for the NCAA Division 1 Zone Diving Competition that will be held in February.
