ARTS/West to Host Magical Realism Exhibit

ARTS/West will host an opening reception for Through the Eyes of Magical Realism, an exhibition by Athens-area artist Laura Serna-Maytorena, on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 6:30 p.m.

Serna-Maytorena’s work will hang in the ARTS/West gallery space from Nov. 4–30. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

“The gods of my childhood were fierce and fantastic and stirred my imagination to no end,” stated Serna-Maytorena in a press release. “Myth, ritual, stories, songs, symbolism, Indians and conquistadores shaped my imaginings. I grew up through the eyes of magical realism.”
