COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has approved more than $11 million in funding to improve outdoor recreation throughout the state.

The Columbus Dispatch reports the department approved the funding through three grants that will go toward trails, playgrounds and parks in the state.

Department Director James Zehringer says the grants allow the agency to encourage Ohians to spend time outdoors and improve their quality of life.

Franklin County is set to receive more than $680,000, much of which will be used by the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department to complete a trail.

Delaware County will get more than $700,000 that will be used mostly to improve pathways and trails in orange and Genoa townships.
