Ohio defeated Buffalo 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-15) on Friday night in their second to last conference game of the season in Athens, Ohio at the Convocation Center. The win moves the ‘Cats to 12-3 in the conference and 22-6 overall on the season.

After dominating the first two sets, Ohio entered the third looking to wrap things up, and wrap things up they did. They won the third 25-15 thanks in large part to Buffalo, as the Bulls made eight errors along side only nine kills. With a 24-15 lead, Katie Nelson finished the match fittingly with her only kill of the evening.

The first set was quite the start for Ohio as they bludgeoned the Bulls 25-15. Ohio had a team hitting percentage of .593 in the set. Buffalo couldn’t do anything to stop the offensive attack of the ‘Cats. Meredith Ashy really helped establish the tone early with a six point service run to give Ohio an early 8-1 advantage.

The second set included more of the same. While Ohio couldn’t out do its own ridiculous first set hitting percentage, they still out did themselves in the kill category by collecting a team total of 18. Leading 12-10, Ohio went on a 9-2 run to lead 21-12. On the run, Jamie Kosiorek snagged four of her team high 12 kills. Ohio finished up the set with a 25-14 advantage.

After the win, Ohio now will look forward to their regular season finale in the Convo on Saturday night against Akron. The Bobcats will then host the Mid-American Conference tournament next weekend as they look to add another championship title and look to add their names to the Ohio University record books.
