Eastern Continues with Young, Tough Leaders
< < Back to eastern-continues-with-young-tough-leadersTwo years removed from a state championship, the Eastern Lady Eagles are set to make noise again in the TVC-Hocking. The Lady Eagles were a young team last year led by freshman Madison Williams and sophomore Laura Pullins but still managed to have success, finishing in second place in the Hocking with a 16-6 overall record and 13-3 conference record.
Players to watch out for:
Laura Pullins took over the leadership role of this team as only a sophomore last season. After graduating all five starters from the state championship team, Pullins had to grow up fast and take over Jenna Burdette’s role as the teams’ leading scorer. Pullins did that, but she also had some help when freshman Madison Williams emerged.
Madison Williams emerged as Pullins quick shooting side kick last season and proved she is a threat not only in the paint but can drain shots from behind the arc as well. Williams did not play in the TVC Preview due to an offseason injury.
Head coach John Burdette acknowledged the youth of his squad at many times last year, but with a year of leadership and experience under their belts, Pullins and Williams have high expectations for this year.
