COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Federal officials say roughly 43,000 Ohioans have signed up for health coverage through the federal marketplace so far this enrollment season.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says that as of last Saturday, 42,564 residents have selected plans while nearly 2 million people have nationwide.

Ohio is one of the states using the federal website, HealthCare.gov.

Federal officials say 57 percent of Ohio enrollees can find plans for $75 or less a month in premiums after tax credits. For 2016, Ohio consumers can pick from 17 issuers and an average of 81 plans.

The new sign-up season for President Barack Obama’s health law began Nov. 1. People who want their health coverage to start at the first of the year need to apply for coverage by Dec. 15.
