< < Back to gilleland-ashy-earn-honors-from-american-volleyball-coaches-associationThe Ohio Bobcats volleyball season may be over, but the accolades are coming in for a team that won the Mid-American Conference championship and earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament. The American Volleyball Coaches Association honored senior setter Abby Gilleland by naming her to the 2015 AVCA All-Northeast Region team. Senior libero Meredith Ashy garnered an Honorable Mention.
Abby Gilleland is the first Ohio volleyball player to earn such an honor three years running, and this is the first recognition from the AVCA that Ashy has received in her career. Gilleland and Ashy helped lead Ohio to the NCAA Tournament for the 10th time in school history through their leadership and drive.
The two not only were integral cogs in the team this year but also year in and year out over their careers. They will also be leaving their marks in the record books as Gilleland is third all time in assists in Ohio history with 4,702. Earlier this year Meredith Ashy set the school record with 2,230 digs.
