Six ‘Cats place on 2015 Academic All-MAC Team

Six Ohio Volleyball student-athletes placed on the 2015 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team for the second straight year.

Senior libero Meredith Ashy, senior middle blocker Karin Bull, senior setter Abby Gilleland, senior outside hitter Shelby Walker, junior outside hitter Mallory Salis, and sophomore outside hitter Jamie Kosiorek received Academic All-MAC honors as announced by the league office on Wednesday, Dec. 9.

A sport management major, Gilleland earned honors for the third year in a row. On the court, she put up strong support for the Bobcats, posting 1,276 assists this season.

Ashy, Bull, and Salis garnered recognition for the second-straight year. Ashy, a child and family studies major, led the team’s defense with a school-record 633 digs this season. Bull, an environmental health science major, earned a 3.509 GPA, in addition to tallying 125 total blocks this season. Salis, a nursing major, earned a 3.397 GPA. She provided strong offense and defense for the Bobcats this season by racking up 250 kills and 325 digs.

Walker, a sport management major, received recognition by earning a 3.389 GPA, and Kosiorek, a marketing major, earned 3.739 GPA. They helped lead the ‘Cats with with a combined total of 627 kills.

To qualify for the Academic All-Mac honors, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA, and participate in at least half of the games in the season.
