A former Hocking County Sheriff’s deputy has been indicted for allegedly violating the rules and regulations of a law enforcement database.

According to a news releases from Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn, Jeremy Dye was indicted by a Hocking County grand jury for one count of unauthorized use of the Ohio Law Enforcement Gateway, which is a fifth degree felony.

Blackburn said in April 2014, while a deputy with the Hocking County Sheriff’s Office, Dye was accused of “disseminating an OHLEG report against the rules and regulations of the Ohio Law Enforcement Gateway.”

Dye appeared before a judge and was released on his own recognizance.

Blackburn served as a special prosecutor for this case.
