COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – State officials say Ohio’s unemployment rate rose slightly for November, a month after reaching its lowest level in 14 years.

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services said Friday that the rate increased from 4.4 percent in October to 4.5 percent in November. It was 5.8 percent a year ago.

The state’s rate has been tracking below the national rate, which was 5 percent in October and remained unchanged last month.

The unemployment rate rose even as Ohio added 9,900 jobs in November. The sectors reporting thousands of job gains included construction, leisure and hospitality, government, and professional and business services. The trade, transportation and utilities category lost 5,700 jobs, the most of any sector.
