Federal Hocking (3-11, 2-8) failed to be efficient on defense allowing South Gallia (11-2, 7-2) to dominate and win 61-36. South Gallia started off strong and kept Federal Hocking from picking up and scoring.

South Gallia’s senior guard Joseph Ehman led the Rebels with on both sides of the ball for the night. Ehman finished with 26 total points and also had seven steals.

Federal Hocking’s coach Jamie Justus knew that Ehman was one of the main reasons they couldn’t crack through to score.

“They’ve got in my opinion… the best guard in the league (Ehman),” Justus admitted.

Ehman and the next South Gallia top scorer, Landon Hutchinson, who scored 12 points, were not the only reasons Federal Hocking lost.

The Lancers failed to keep the ball with over 22 turnovers. Federal Hocking also couldn’t pick up the momentum failing to score for most of the first quarter. A. J. Cobb was the only Lancer to get things going with 12 points.

With the loss, Federal Hocking is now on a nine-game losing streak.

Justus believes if they go back into practice and work on the basics, they have a chance against their next opponent.

“We are in the situation now where we got to work on fixing us,”Justus mentioned. “We got a lot of stuff we’ve got to get better at, taking care of the ball.”

Justus also suggested to his team to take the extra twenty minutes before practice to work on shooting to help them in the future.

Federal Hocking will look to route out its losing streak when it takes on River Valley (3-11, 0-5) on Jan. 23rd. Meanwhile, South Gallia will hope to continue its winning momentum when they go against Southern (2-13, 2-8) on Jan. 22nd. The Rebels already beat the Tornadoes 65-50 previously in the season.
