FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) – Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes says eligible voters may begin casting mail-in absentee ballots for Kentucky’s May 17 primary election.

People eligible to vote by mail-in absentee balloting include military personnel and their dependents, overseas citizens, students who temporarily live outside their home counties, voters who temporarily reside outside Kentucky and people of advanced age or who suffer from disabilities or illness.

Voters may request absentee ballot applications from their county clerks in person or by phone, fax or email. Applications for mail-in absentee ballots must be received by a clerk’s office no later than May 10. The completed ballot must be received by the county clerk by 6 p.m. local time on Election Day.
