Organized Crime Unit Helps With Vinton County Arrest

Jan Barney, 54, of Wilkesville; Ronald Wade Barney, 19,
of Wilkesville; Brandon Lee Hamilton, 18, of Wilkesville; and Paul E. Jarvis, 50, of Vinton were all arrested on search warrants related to an investigation into alleged narcotics trafficking and possession of drugs, according to a press release by Vinton County Sheriff Shawn Justice.
Two search warrants were executed by the sheriff’s office, with the help of the Ohio Organized Crime Investigation Commission Major Crimes Task Force of Gallia/Meigs and the McArthur Police Department.
Jan Barney, Ronald Barney and Hamilton were all arrested at a residence on South Mill Street in Wilkesville. Jan Barney was charged with trafficking in drugs, possession of drugs and acting in a pattern of corrupt activity, according to the release. Ronald Barney and Hamilton were arrested on separate counts of cultivation of marijuana.
A second search warrant at a Newsome Road residence in Vinton resulted in the arrest of Jarvis.
“A large amount of illegal narcotics and cash were found inside the residence,” the release stated.
Jarvis is charged with trafficking in drugs and possession of drugs.
After being taken into custody, the four were taken to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail to await a bond hearing.
The sheriff’s office stated that more charges could be filed at a later date, as the investigation continues.
