The Area’s 1st “Stand Down” Event to Benefit Local Veterans
< < Back to the-areas-1st-stand-down-event-to-benefit-local-veteransOn this episode of “Conversations from Studio B”, Becca Lachman welcomes guests, Monica Silverthorn from the Athens County VA, and Judge George McCarthy, to Studio B to talk about the upcoming “Stand Down” event.
The word “Stand Down” is a military term that refers to the time when combat units recover from their time on the battlefield. In the civilian world, “Stand Down” refers to a community-based program designed to help the homeless and those at risk of homelessness connect to the resources they need to address their problems and rebuild their lives.
This event will take place Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, 10 am to 2pm at the Athens County Fairgrounds. It will be free and open to the public.
The Stand Down committee is currently seeking volunteers! If you are interested in volunteering for this event, or would like more information about the event, please contact:
