Stuart’s Opera House in Nelsonville, Ohio presents Behind the Curtain: Stuart’s History Night on Wednesday, Sept. 14 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. This event is part of Ohio History Connection’s Ohio Open Doors Week and National Arts Education Week and is free and open to the public.

Stuart’s will showcase our history in several ways throughout the evening including a guided tour and Q&A with Stuart’s Marketing Director Brian Koscho, a special letterpress workshop with Marietta artist Bobby Rosenstock of Just A Jar Design Press (and you can take your finished products with you!), displays of historical artifacts and photos dating from the Opera House’s beginnings in 1879 up through its building and reopening in 1997, and even some video clips from a never before seen tour of Stuart’s in the late 1970’s before the 1980 fire.

Ohio Open Doors is a statewide effort where building and landmark sponsors open their doors to the public for special tours and programs.

Passed by Congress in 2010, House Resolution 275 designates the week beginning with the second Sunday in September as National Arts in Education Week. During this week, the field of arts education joins together in communities across the country to tell the story of the impact of the transformative power of the arts in education.
