SANDUSKY, Ohio (AP) – Representatives of the Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump campaigns are scheduled to outline their plans for protecting the Great Lakes during a regional forum.

The Healing Our Waters-Great Lakes Coalition is hosting the event Thursday in Sandusky, Ohio.

Speaking for the Trump presidential campaign will be Mike Budzik, former chief of the Ohio Division of Wildlife.

The Clinton spokesman will be David Hayes, former deputy secretary of the U.S. Department of Interior.

They’ll appear separately before members of the coalition, which includes more than 100 organizations that support a program called the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative.

The coalition is pressing both campaigns to promise continued funding of the initiative, which deals with problems such as invasive species, harmful algae and toxic pollution.
