West Virginia Hopefuls For Governor Slated For 1st Debate

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) – West Virginia’s Democratic and Republican nominees for governor will face off in their first head-to-head debate.

Billionaire Democratic businessman Jim Justice and Republican state Senate President Bill Cole will participate in the West Virginia Press Association debate Tuesday.

The event will take place at 7 p.m. at the Clay Center for the Performing Arts in Charleston. It will be broadcast live on WV Public Broadcasting, Public Radio and online at wvpress.org.

Justice and Cole are vying to fill Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin’s seat. Tomblin is reaching his two-consecutive-term limit.

Third-party candidates are not participating in the debate.
