Ohio Men’s Golf Places Ninth at 2016 Firestone Invitational
< < Back to ohio-mens-golf-places-ninth-at-2016-firestone-invitationalThe Ohio men’s golf team traveled up to Akron, Ohio on Monday to compete in the 2016 Firestone Invitational where they posted a final team score of 875 (+10), placing them in ninth-place.
Cincinnati finished the Invitational on top with a total three-round score of 850 (-14). Austin Squires of Cincinnati also topped the leaderboard but on the individual side scoring a three-round 205 (-11), four strokes better than the next competitor.
Next teams up on the leaderboard was Illinois St. finishing in second with a score of 853 (-11) and the hosts of the tournament Akron University coming in third place with a final score of 856 (-8).
The Bobcats remained consistent the entire tournament posting the same score of 290 (+2) in the first two rounds and finishing the tournament off with a team round of 294 (+6).
Senior co-captain Peyton White was the only Bobcat that finished under-par in this tournament with a score of 215 (-1), tying him for 17th place individually. White went 72-72-71 in his three rounds of the tournament.
The next player up for the Bobcats was other senior co-captain Ty Herriot who finished with a final score of 216 (E). Herriot started the tournament off strong posting a score of 70 but followed up with two identical round scores of 73. Herriot finished the tournament tied for 20th place.
Other notable scorers for the Bobcats was Sophomore Ben Sattler and Junior Brady Bohl who both fired the same score of 225 (+9) placing them tied for 53rd place overall individually. Sattler’s three individual round scores were 75-78-72 while Bohl went 73-74-78.
The Bobcats will get a couple weeks off until they travel to Florida to compete in the Homewood/Hilton Garden Airport & FGCU Classic, their final tournament of the Fall 2016-2017 schedule.
