Ohio’s Nelson Named MAC East Offensive POW After Weekend Split
< < Back toRedshirt sophomore middle blocker Katie Nelson was crowned the Mid-American Conference East Offensive Player of the Week following an impressive performance this weekend, which Ohio split.
Despite getting swept by East Division rivals Miami (OH), Nelson finished the night hitting .417 and tallied six kills and two assisted blocks. The following night, the sophomore stepped it up, ending the match with 17 kills as a well as a career-high eight assisted blocks.
Adding on to those stats, Nelson also ended the weekend with five digs, as well as a service ace. That was enough to help Ohio get the win in their come-from-behind thriller against Bowling Green, taking it to five sets.
Last weekend marked the end of the Bobcat’s final home games at the Convocation Center this season.
The Bobcats sit comfortably in second place in their division and will look to close the season out on a high note when they travel to Kent State this Thursday. The Golden Flashes will be coming into the game with a lot of momentum after handing Miami (OH) their first conference loss of the season last weekend.
