Ohio To Discuss Graduation Rules After Requirement Warnings
< < Back to ohio-to-discuss-graduation-rules-after-requirement-warningsCOLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Ohio’s school board is set to discuss graduation rules as school administrators warn that new requirements are putting a large number of current high school juniors at risk of not graduating on time.
Some superintendents estimate that one-third or more of current juniors in their districts are in jeopardy of not graduating next school year unless officials alter the requirements for the class of 2018.
To graduate, they must earn certain points on more demanding end-of-course exams, or get a job credential or a remediation-free score on a college entrance exam.
The board’s Tuesday discussion about requirements comes the same day the governor’s executive workforce board is set to deliver recommendations for how Ohio’s education, nonprofit, labor and business sectors can work together to remove barriers to the job market.
