Ohio Swimming Senior Profile: Carrie Dukes
< < Back toSenior Carrie Dukes came to Athens from Monkton, Md. as a freshman in 2013 to swim for the Ohio Bobcats. She has now been with the team for four years and has experienced several different moments with the team, including a handful of top finishes.
She competed in all 12 meets for the Bobcats her freshman year and finished the season off with 19 top-three finishes, six of those being first-place finishes. She clocked first-place in the 100-yard butterfly, one of her specialties, three times her freshman season.
Dukes had an outstanding sophomore season, swimming in 10 meets and achieving quite a few personal records. At the Mid-American Conference Championships, she swam an incredible 54.12 in the 100-yard butterfly, the fourth-best time in school history and a 2:02.98 in the 200-yard butterfly, the eighth-best time. Dukes was also a part of the 200 and 400-yard freestyle relays. The 200-yard relay swam a 1:32.80 at MAC Championships, the seventh-best, and a 3:39.99 in the 400-yard relay, the second-best. She finished fourth overall in the MAC in the 100-yard butterfly and 10th overall in 200-yard butterfly.
She continued to improve her collegiate swimming resume throughout her junior year, swimming in 11 meets and recording four first-place finishes. Dukes had three of her best swims at the MAC Championships. She was also named academic All-MAC.
Dukes is currently wrapping up her senior year as a Bobcat. She took first-place in the 100-yard butterfly in her senior meet and she will be swimming at the MAC Championships in Oxford, OH Feb. 22-25.
