Ohio Wins Series Against WKU with Shutout Win
< < Back to ohio-wins-series-against-wku-with-shutout-winOhio baseball (7-5) wrapped up their series against Western Kentucky with a 2-1 weekend after winning the final game of the weekend. After losing 5-4 in the first game and then coming back with a 3-0 win in the second, the Bobcats beat the Hilltoppers with an identical score of 3-0 in the third and final game.
It was in the third inning when Ohio scored their first run after loading the bases for Nick Bredeson who singled home Spencer Ibarra. A similar scenario with bases loaded in the fifth inning earned the Bobcats their second run after Connor Callery singled and sent Klein home. With bases still loaded for sophomore Devon Garcia, Garcia hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Bredeson for Ohio’s third and final run for Ohio.
Some key players of the weekend continued to make contributions, including redshirt junior Michael Klein. Klein picked up his first win on the mound of the season by pitching five innings and only allowing three hits and one walk. Klein was relieved by sophomore Kenny Oggs, senior Tom Colletti, and finally redshirt junior Jake Roehn who closed the game.
Ohio will have a week to rest until they head to Dayton this upcoming weekend to play the Flyers on March 10.
