Ohio Baseball Completes Sweep of Ball State

For the first time since 1997, the Ohio Bobcats (14-12) start Mid-American Conference play 3-0 after completing the weekend sweep of the Ball State Cardinals (11-17) 10-0 Sunday afternoon.

The Bobcats broke the tie in the fourth inning and only went upward from there.

Ty Black singled through the left side to led off the inning and advanced to second on a throwing error by the shortstop on Nick Bredeson’s line out. After back-to-back walks by Connor Callery and Tony Giannini, Devon Garcia singled through the ride side, scoring Black.

Ohio plated two more runs in the fifth. Rudy Rott singled to left, Michael Klein bunted him over to second and Black smacked a two-run homer to left field.

Black finished 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Michael Klein got the start for Ohio and shut down the Cardinals all game long. Klein threw eight innings, allowing just four hits and striking out nine batters.

Klein also went 1-for-4 at the plate with one RBI.

Ohio scored one more run in the seventh, two in the eighth and four in the ninth. The Bobcats pounded out 18 hits and had no errors.

The Bobcats return home to Bob Wren Tuesday night to face to Dayton Flyers (9-15)

First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
