Athens Fire Department officials said they responded to 88 E. State St. at about 5 a.m. on Monday, where a fire had engulfed the Prokos Rental office.
Though it only took 10 to 15 minutes to fight the fire, fire investigators estimated $80,000 in damages to the building and $75,000 to materials like computers within the building.
The Ohio State Fire Marshal was called in to investigate the fire. Arson is still being considered as a potential cause. A back door was reportedly found open.
A spokesperson for the fire marshal’s office said the investigation is ongoing and no further information was available for release.
No injuries were reported from the fire.
A sign was posted on the building saying Prokos Rentals has moved to West Stimson Avenue, next to Hocking Valley Bank.
