On April 18, the University Program Council (UPC), a volunteer organization of Ohio students who bring activities to campus and the local area, put on the “Zoo to yOU” event held at SouthBeach. The Jungle Island Zoo company, who sponsored this event, brought all kinds of animals such as a tortoise, kangaroos, goats, alpacas, a yak and of course the free camel rides which were the most popular attraction; with students waiting in a line at least 20 people long to experience climbing into a two-person saddle for a stroll around a fenced-in area on South Green. They also were selling carrots for $1 for anyone who wanted to feed the animals but most people decided to just rip some grass out of the ground and feed them that which the animals enjoyed just as much. This interesting event invited Bobcats to take advantage of a fun and unusual opportunity in the midst of one of the busiest and most stressful times of the academic year. Its not only a fun activity to attend but also a great stress reliever for students who are busy studying for their final exams.
