LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) – Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin’s office has been ordered by a federal judge to reimburse legal fees and travel expenses incurred by Planned Parenthood in an ongoing legal fight involving abortion.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Dave Whalin ruled Monday that the sanctions are warranted after no one from the governor’s office showed up for an Aug. 18 deposition.

Whalin’s order didn’t specify a reimbursement amount. The judge asked Planned Parenthood to submit a list of expenses to him by Nov. 21.

The sanctions come in the ongoing legal fight between Bevin’s administration and Planned Parenthood over the organization’s effort to obtain a license to provide abortions in Louisville.

Bevin’s office says it’s disappointed by the order and plans to appeal.

The Courier-Journal first reported the judge’s order.
