Athens with a record of (5-17) and winning their last three of four games against conference rivals Southern, Wellston, and River Valley. Sheridan faced early season struggles starting off with a two-game losing streak. However, Sheridan was not deterred, finishing the season winning 19 of their 20 games, and they were not stopping there.
Starting the game with a 9-0 run, Sheridan didn’t look back taking a commanding 23 point lead at the half with a score of 35-12.

Mid-way through the fourth quarter Athens found themselves down 60-18, with the running clock rule in full effect.
Laura Manderick scored eight of her team leading 12 points with under a minute left to play. Unfortunately, for the Lady Bulldogs Laura’s last desperation efforts weren’t enough to push Athens over a red hot Sheridan team.
When it was said and done Sheridan found themselves on top with a dominating win and increasing their record to (20-3).
Leading the onslaught for Sheridan were Rachel Cooke with 20 points and four rebounds, and Kendyl Micks with 17 points, three rebounds, and three assists.
Sheridan survives and moves on to the next round to take on second ranked Warren, that dominated an injury ridden Jackson team. The game will be on Saturday afternoon at Logan high school at 2:45.
Athens season may be over for now, but the Lady Bulldogs have their full roster coming back next year minus senior Emmy Beck-Aiden.
The Athens Lady Bulldogs will be happy to have junior Lily Mills and sophomore leading scorer, Laura Manderick returning for first year coach Seth Matheny’s sophomore season.
