< < Back to trump-jr-stumps-for-west-virginia-senate-raceCHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) — With five months to go before the general election, West Virginia’s U.S. senate race is heating up.
Republican candidate Patrick Morrissey, West Virginia’s Attorney General, got some high-profile help Tuesday.
WSAZ reports that Donald Trump Jr. was the featured speaker for a fundraising lunch in Charleston.
As of the latest filings, Morrisey has $1.3 million cash on hand compared with incumbent Democratic Senator Joe Manchin’s $5.4 million cash on hand.
The Senate is currently under Republican control, but with some vulnerable seats up for grabs on both sides, Trump Jr. and Morrisey said this could be the race between not flipping it to the Democratic party.
Manchin is seen as one of the most vulnerable Democratic senators, thanks to the overwhelming numbers Donald Trump got in West Virginia in 2016.
