Trimble and Waterford has become a deciding matchup in the TVC-Hocking in recent years. The 2018 season doesn’t appear to be any different.

And the Tomcat defense was lights-out.

The Wildcats were unable to get anything going and the Tomcats steamrolled their way to a 42-12 victory.

Following a Waterford touchdown in the second quarter, Trimble was driving down the field and looking to respond and extend their lead.

On a second down and five, Trimble’s Conner Wright took the hand-off and juked out one defender, bulldozed another and ran his way thirty yards to the endzone, making the score 14-6 Trimble early in the game.

The Trimble Tomcat offense proved to be very overwhelming at times for the Waterford defense.

And for the most part, it was a one-man show.

Wright finished his epic night with 156 yards on 24 carries and had not one, not two, but five rushing touchdowns. He was making the defensive guys miss all night long as he led the Tomcats to a commanding 42-12 win over the Waterford Wildcats.

This game was a close defensive battle up until Trimble started sticking to their ground-and-pound approach.

It was then that the Trimble offense started finding consistent success against the Wildcat defense, scoring on three straight drives to close out the first half.

However, before Trimble could walk into the half with a 22-point lead, Waterford would capitalize on a great kickoff return that put them inside the Tomcat 40-yard line. Seven plays later, Peyten Stephens connected with star running back Braden Bellville for the eight-yard touchdown pass.

That would be the only time Braden Bellville found the endzone. The Tomcat defense was shutting him down all night long. As a team, Waterford finished with 29 rushing yards. Peyten Stephens finished with 84 yards passing with the touchdown to Bellville and two second-half interceptions.

Overall, Trimble had Waterford’s number all night long on defense. The Trimble D-line forced Stephens to move around in the pocket and make tough throws.

With the loss, Waterford moves to 4-2 overall with a 3-1 conference record. Next week, Waterford returns home to play host to Wahama. With the win, Trimble moves into the driver’s seat in the TVC-Hocking with a 4-0 conference record and 5-1 overall record. Next week, Trimble travels to Corning, Ohio to take on the Miller Falcons.
