Jackson Township police said Tuesday they’ve closed their investigation into 13-year-old Keith Simons’ death in February at Jackson Memorial Middle School near Massillon. The Repository in Canton reports authorities determined Simons didn’t tell anyone about his plans.
Police have said Simons loaded explosives and ammunition in a backpack and hid a semi-automatic rifle under his clothing. Security video showed him entering a school bathroom and exiting briefly before re-entering the bathroom, where police say he shot himself. He died the next day.
Police said Simons’ cellphone information showed an intended school shooting plan and expressed admiration for the Columbine High School shooters in Colorado.
